Women's coarse hair body areas (except
the face) are predictable and fairly easily treated.. Finer hair
may never be totally destoryed with laser hair removal. The next
best method for the fine hair may be thermolysis, or super flash
as it is called. This method is similar to electrolysis, utilizing
a small needle. The only other possibility is combining laser treatments
followed with one of the enzymes (food grade enzyme) products. Vellus
hairs (hairs without a root and associated with the sebacious oil
gland) are not killed unless they are dark.
Lower legs are usually the easiest
area to treat. The bikini area, forarms, and underarms are also
fairly easily treated.
Other areas can be more challenging.
Hair growth combinations such as chin, breast and abdomen usually
are clear signs of a hormal imbalance and should be checked out
with an endocrinologist before beginning treatments. A hormonal
imbalance test will at least allow the patient to know if there
is an active imbalance. Balanced hormones will not suddenly cause
hairs to fall out. Once established, hairs are well rooted and have
a blood supply.
The face can be easy or difficult.
The larger the hairs the easier they are destroyed. The chin area
usually requires more treatments than any other facial area. Skin
type IV women with fine hair on their back, shoulders, full abdomen,
or chest areas are the most difficult to treat. Possibly the only
solution is to combine laser treatments with enzyme creams. ALC
is currently testing this idea.
